Expert exercise prescriptions

At Helios, the foundation of rehabilitation revolves around therapeutic exercise with a focus on precise prescription. Dr. Mir, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, tailors exercise regimens and techniques to address the specific needs of each patient. Helios is different from mainstream Physical Therapy clinics–Dr. Mir takes a hands-on approach, personally prescribing, observing, and actively participating in exercises alongside patients, providing immediate real-time feedback. This ensures that every moment spent in physical therapy at Helios is dedicated to the patient's recovery.

Dyanmic cupping therapy

At Helios Physical Therapy, cupping therapy is incorporated judiciously and precisely for eligible and appropriate patients. Unlike conventional approaches, our cupping therapy at Helios is integrated with active exercises, enhancing its myofascial benefits. What sets our cupping therapy apart is our advanced technology. We employ dynamic cupping machines that maintain the intended pressure consistently throughout the session.

Graston treatment

At Helios Physical Therapy, we embrace Graston Tools and overall Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) as integral components of our therapeutic repertoire. Dr. Mir employs these tools when deemed appropriate for specific patients.

Blood flow restriction treatment

At Helios Physical Therapy we incorporate Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) therapy to optimize rehabilitation outcomes. BFR is a specialized method in physical therapy that involves the controlled application of pressure to restrict blood flow in a targeted muscle or muscle group during exercise. This technique has demonstrated significant benefits, particularly in post-surgical scenarios like ACL procedures. The advantages of BFR therapy lie in its ability to enhance muscle growth and strength with reduced pressure and load on specific joints. Research has consistently highlighted the efficacy of BFR in promoting muscle hypertrophy, improving strength, and accelerating recovery post-injury or surgery. At Helios we specifically employ the third generation Smart Tools BFR machine and cuffs.

NMES and biofeedback

Helios Physical Therapy incorporates Neuro-Muscular Electric Stimulation (NMES) as an effective modality for pain relief and muscle activation. This specialized application helps address issues related to poor muscle activation and aids in the prevention of muscle atrophy. We employ this when patients have difficulty recruiting muscle fibers, which often happen with increased swelling after surgery.

Normatec recovery boots

Helios Physical Therapy integrates cutting-edge recovery techniques, including the use of NormaTec Recovery Boots. These boots employ dynamic compression technology to promote circulation and reduce muscle soreness and stiffness. NormaTec's pulsating massage mimics the natural muscle pump, aiding in the removal of metabolic waste and facilitating faster recovery. Whether utilized post-intensive workouts or as part of rehabilitation, NormaTec Recovery Boots offer a non-invasive and efficient solution.
