FAQs

Do you take insurance?

Yes, we do! We take insurances with out-of-network benefits. We are happy to meet with you and discuss your specific plan and financial responsibilities before we begin treatment.

What if I don’t have out-of-network coverage?

Don’t worry, there are other options. If you don’t have out-of-network coverage, we provide cash treatment alternatives. For example, we offer packages that reduce the price-per-session.

Do I need a prescription to receive Physical Therapy?

No, you do not need a prescription. New Jersey is considered a ‘direct access’ state, which means you can go directly to the physical therapist without a prescription. If our initial physical assessment shows that you need to be seen by a specialist, we’ll make a referral.

Why should I go here versus the regular therapy place around the corner?

Good question. Most clinics see four or more patients an hour, which leads to overworked and overwhelmed therapists who cannot fully focus on you. With Helios, you’ll have one hour of undivided attention from a physical therapist who provides real-time feedback and hands-on care.

How long are sessions?

We pride ourselves on 60-minutes sessions for our patients. This applies to first and follow-up appointments. All sessions are one-on-one with a doctor of physical therapy.

What does the first session look like?

During the first session, our goal is to get to know you, including your health history, your current injuries, as well as your goals and motivations. Next, we will perform a comprehensive assessment of your movements related to your pain and beyond. Finally, together we’ll develop plan that is goal-oriented and dynamic.

Does Helios accept insurance?

We accept and work with out-of-network insurance plans. We will run your insurance, verify and
explain the benefits, and we will submit the claims as well.

What conditions does Helios treat?

We treat all orthopedic conditions and post-operative cases — including neck and back pain,
herniated discs, whiplash, shoulder injuries (rotator cuff, labrum, impingement, dislocations), hip, knee,
ankle, and foot conditions, post-surgical recovery, sports injuries, and concussions. We specialize in working
with active adults and athletes.

How long are sessions, and are they one-on-one?

Every session is 60 minutes, one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy — no aides.

Do you work with athletes and sports injuries specifically?

We specialize in active adults and athletes, but we work with all orthopedic conditions — check out
our conditions treated list above for the full list.

Where is Helios located, and is there parking?

116 Essex Street, Millburn, NJ 07041. There's free parking behind the building, and two town
parking lots conveniently located across the street.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No referral needed — by law, physical therapists have direct access, so you can book directly with
us. If we determine you need imaging or further assessment, we'll refer you out to the appropriate provider.
